FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: double passive fibre-optic network has a bidirectional bus made from optical fibre, two central control nodes (controller), multiple user nodes of a first and a second network, guided X-couplers and three-port optical circulators. Transmission to the first network is carried out at wavelength λ₁, and to the second at wavelength λ₂ (λ₂≠λ₁). The guided X-couplers, in the order of their arrangement in the bus from the first to the second controller, have increasing branching coefficient at wavelength λ₁ for transmission to the first network and decreasing branching coefficient at wavelength λ₂ for transmission to the second network.

EFFECT: increase in number of user nodes serviced by a network while reducing requirements for the dynamic range of receivers.
