FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: double passive fibre-optic network has a bidirectional bus made from optical fibre, two central control nodes (controller), multiple user nodes of a first and a second network, guided X-couplers and three-port optical circulators. Transmission to the first network is carried out at wavelength λ1, and to the second at wavelength λ2 (λ2≠λ1). The guided X-couplers, in the order of their arrangement in the bus from the first to the second controller, have increasing branching coefficient at wavelength λ1 for transmission to the first network and decreasing branching coefficient at wavelength λ2 for transmission to the second network.
EFFECT: increase in number of user nodes serviced by a network while reducing requirements for the dynamic range of receivers.
