FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: measuring tape is fitted with an indicator consisting of an electronic circuit connected through contacts with a measuring tape and a reservoir housing. If there is water in between, the circuit closes and the light-emitting diode of the indicator lights up. In order to detect presence of water, the measuring tape load is lowered to the bottom of the reservoir and the height on the tape is recorded. The boundary surface of media is determined by switching off of the light-emitting diode when the load is taken out of the reservoir in backward motion.
EFFECT: high accuracy of measuring the level of water under a product with low material and time consumption.
