FIELD: process engineering.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to device for contact butt welding with preheating of compact-section ring-shaped articles to be used at special-purpose butt-welding machines. Moving foundation drive hydraulic cylinder is provided with speed controller and swage hydraulic control valve. Moving foundation position pickup, face heating temperature metre and current pickup are connected to process program control system that includes programmable controller connected to butt-welding machine actuators. Control system incorporates units to set initial distance between jaws and final distance there between after swaging with due allowance for billet shortening due to fusing out of excess allowances.

EFFECT: higher accuracy of setting welding parameters, higher precision of finished products.
