FIELD: technological processes.

SUBSTANCE: invention may be used in contact butt-seam welding of products of annular closed profile of compact section made on specialised joint welding machines. A drive of displacement of a movable stand equipped with clamps and welding grips is made as a hydraulic cylinder with a speed controller and a hydraulic distributor of residue. The system of process control on the basis of a programmable controller is connected to actuators of a welding machine and is joined to sensors that determine position of the movable stand, temperature of heating of welded stocks ends, a welding current and with a sensor to measure length of stocks surfaces generatrix. The system of program control of the process includes modules to receive data on initial length of the stocks generatrix, shortening of stocks when welding the first joint of the semicircles, a module to adjust the value of semicircles shortening when welding the second joint. The module of produced data analysis is designed to compare the measured length of the stocks generatrix with required dimensions of a product and to calculate the value of semicircles shortening during welding.

EFFECT: invention ensures selection of optimal parameters of the mode without doing the sample welding and production of finished goods with high accuracy along the diameter and perimeter.
