FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: in the method, a dye-based temperature sensor in form of a Pt(2-(2-thienyl)-pyridinate)2 complex dissolved in 2-methyl-tetrahydrofuran is put into the object. The kinetics of phosphorescence decay of dye molecules is measured. Temperature of the said object is determined based on a calibration curve of probability of deactivation of the phosphorescent triplet state versus temperature.
EFFECT: luminescent method of determining temperature ranging from 4 to 300 K and possibility of measuring temperature at wavelengths corresponding to the transparent window of biological tissue.
