FIELD: electrical engineering.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of electrically insulating polymers. Disclosed is a method of producing an electrically insulating polymer dielectric, which involves doping the polymer dielectric with molecules of a hydrocarbon compound. Dopant used is a phosphorescent hydrocarbon compound. Doping is carried out with a dopant having an energy of triplet states which is less than the energy of triplet states of the polymer dielectric. Concentration of the dopant in the polymer dielectric is determined from the maximum phosphorescence intensity of the hydrocarbon compound from a pre-plotted curve of phosphorescence intensity of a hydrocarbon compound in an alternating electric field on its content in a polymer dielectric.

EFFECT: proposed invention enables to obtain a polymer dielectric with increased durability in an alternating electric field, which considerably increases service life of electrical insulation in an alternating electric field.
