PROCEDURE FOR FABRICATION OF WIRE BRUSH PACKING Russian patent published in 2011 - IPC F16J15/00 

FIELD: machine building.

SUBSTANCE: procedure for fabrication of wire brush packing consists in winding wire on frame in successive layers, in cutting wound layers of wire with electron-beam or laser welding and in securing it between two fastening rings. External edges are welded on their ends. Further, the edges of fastening rings and pilot diameter of packing are finished. As a frame there is used a coil having through radial slits arranged along its perimetre on sides at a similar pitch; depth of slits exceeds height of winding. Wound wire is cut along slots forming wire segments with fritted ends. Further, wire segments are extracted from the coil and each is subjected to treatment to form a specified shape for facilitation of gap-free arrangement of wire segments between the fastening rings.

EFFECT: fabrication of wire brush packing of any required density of wire bristle, of specified inclined arrangement of wires; also, increased efficiency and reliability of brush packing.
