FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: carbon dioxide gas and nitrogen dioxide are exposed to ultraviolet (UV) radiation in two or one cycle and one cycle, respectively. The UV radiation used is in the wavelength range of 160-260 nm. By using a submerged source of UV radiation in a wavelength range with centre of λ=170 nm, the exposure of carbon dioxide gas drops 7-8 times. The obtained ozone is resistant to decomposition since its molecules and nucleus are not composite, but converted during a photonuclear reaction. The obtained nitrogen is not explosive in any concentrations, which makes easier its use and storage. Energy consumption on producing said ozone is considerably low owing to use of a photonuclear reaction. Also, producing ozone from carbon dioxide gas solves the problem of recycling carbon dioxide.
EFFECT: wider use of using ozone in industry and solving the world environmental problem of recycling the main greenhouse gas CO2.
