FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to processing of bismuth-containing materials to produce bismuth powder. Proposed method comprises heating bismuth to vapor phase and vapor cooling to product separation. Note here that bismuth is heated to 1200-1600°C by electron flow that features 4-10 kW power per 1 cm2 at gage pressure of 3-10 mm Hg, while vapors are cooled at 15-40°C in inert gas flow at 20-50 l/min rate.
EFFECT: simplified process, higher purity of bismuth powder.
