FIELD: engines and pumps.
SUBSTANCE: method for arranging cathode-compensator in plasma engine involves selection of configuration and parameters of magnetic system, determination of topology of magnetic field and arrangement of cathode-compensator in zone of minimum action of accelerated plasma flow. Edge with output hole of cathode-compensator is arranged at the closing boundary of power lines of zones of accelerating magnetic field and scattering field of magnetic system. Boundary closing line of power lines is located by selecting the combination of configuration and parameters of magnetic system at least at opening angle of accelerated plasma flow. The appropriate plasma engine includes discharge chamber with ionisation and acceleration zones, anode, magnetic system and cathode-compensator. Magnetic system contains magnetic conductor, inner and outer magnetic poles, inner and outer sources of magnetising force, inner magnetic screen and outer magnetic screen with corrective source of magnetising force. Edge with output hole of cathode-compensator is arranged at least at the closing boundary line of power lines of zones of accelerating magnetic field and scattering fields of magnetic field of magnetic system.
EFFECT: invention allows improving operating reliability of electrojet engines and operating efficiency of cathode-compensator.
