FIELD: electrical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of plasma technology, namely hollow cathodes operating on gaseous working bodies and can be used in electrically reactive engines to neutralize the ion flow, as well as in technological plasma sources intended for ion-plasma treatment of surfaces of various materials in a vacuum, and also as an autonomous functioning plasma source. In a hollow cathode containing hollow capsule 1 with end walls 2, 3, inside which emitter 4 is placed, along with inlet channel of working body 5, outlet 6 and starting electrode 7, the starting electrode is made of a magnetically conductive material so that at least the region from the emitter to the trigger electrode along the flow of the working fluid is magnetically insulated. Outer surfaces of the trigger electrode can be further coated with a material 8 with a blackness of at least 0.75.
EFFECT: increased reliability of work and expansion of the field of application.
