FIELD: space engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to space engineering. Plasma accelerator with closed electron drift includes at least one compensating cathode, discharge system comprising a discharge chamber formed on the output side by the inner and outer rings adjacent respectively to the inner and outer ends of the hollow magnetic anode. Anode consists of an outer and inner magnetically conductive wall, between which a cavity of the gas distributor is formed with channels for supply and injection of the working substance into the discharge chamber. Magnetic system contains a magnetic core, internal and external magnetic poles, at least one source of the magnetizing force, as well as an internal magnetically conductive wall of the anode disposed with non-magnetic gaps relative to the inner and outer magnetic poles. Accordingly, the outer wall of the hollow anode is made of a magnetically conductive material, so that at least the near-anode region in the discharge chamber is magnetically insulated. Injection channels of the working fluid in the inner magnetically conducting wall can be made throughout the entire thickness or confined to a confuser or diffuser shape. In the inner part of the inner magnetically conducting wall, additional channels are injected for injecting the working fluid into the discharge chamber, which are located in the azimuth direction by alternation between themselves, and at an angle with respect to the accelerated plasma flow.
EFFECT: invention allows to increase the plasma accelerator operation efficiency.
