FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to field of medicine, namely to children's gastroenterology, and can be used for determination of inflammatory process activity in case of non-specific ulcerative colitis (NUC). For this purpose biochemical test of blood serum is performed and quantitative content in it of homocysteine is determined in affected child. If values of obtained index are from 6.0 to 10.0 mcM/l first minimal degree of inflammatory process activity in NUC in children is determined. If index values are from 10.0 to 18.0 mcM/l, second moderate degree is determined. If index values are from 18.0 mcM/l and higher, third high degree is determined.

EFFECT: invention provides objective, maximally self-descriptive and non-traumatic method of estimating degree of inflammatory process activity in case of NUC in children, which can be repeatedly applied in dynamic monitoring of affected child, which in its turn provides possibility of differentiated approach to treatment of NUC in children.
