SUBSTANCE: image coding device comprises the first switch, which selects a sequence of subunits forecasting from predetermined forecasting sequences, and subunits are produced by additional division of pixel units, produced by division of input image signal frame, the second switch, which selects from forecasting modes that control method of addressing coded pixels, when the first signal of the first subunit forecasting is generated when addressing the coded pixel, number of forecasting modes used to forecast the first forecasting signal, the third switch, which selects forecasting modes, number of which is equal to the number selected from the number of forecasting modes to use forecasting modes when forecasting the first forecasting signal, a generator, which generates the first forecasting signal in the selected forecasting sequence, using selected forecasting modes, number of which is equal to the selected number to create the second forecasting signal, corresponding to a pixel unit, and a coder, which codes the signal of residual forecasting error, which expresses difference between the signal of the pixel unit image and the second forecasting signal, to create coded data produced by forecasting coding.
EFFECT: increased efficiency of coding and decoding of image.
