FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: here is disclosed procedure for surface alloying parts of steel 40 operating under conditions of wear and reversal loads. The procedure consists in thermal diffusion saturation of surface of parts with alloying elements of dressing applied on their surface by heating, conditioning and cooling. Before thermal diffusion saturation with usage of laser heating there is performed preliminary surface alloying from dressing containing one of the following alloying elements: Cr, V, Ti. Thermal diffusion saturation is carried out at temperature T=650-750°C with conditioning during 3-4 hours and successive cooling in a furnace.
EFFECT: increased thickness of diffusion layer, reduced duration and temperature of process of diffusion saturation of surface at maintaining high hardness.
