FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for surface hardening of a part made of precipitation-hardening steel and can be used in the manufacture and restoration of tools and mechanisms of metallurgical equipment operating under conditions of wear and cyclic loads. Preliminary heat treatment is carried out by quenching and high tempering and application to the surface of the part of an electrolytic deposit containing chromium as an alloying carbide-forming element with a thickness of 200-400 micron. Then, the plasma jet is heated to the melting temperature of the surface of the part, the diffusion saturation of the surface of the said part with a carbide-forming element, high tempering at a temperature of 500-600°С for 0.5-1.0 h and cooling in the furnace.
EFFECT: invention provides increased hardness, wear resistance, shock resistance and increased service life of the surface of the said part.
