FIELD: metallurgy.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgy, and in particular to a method for boriding the surface of carbon steel. The saturating coating is applied to the surface of carbon steel in the form of a pasty composition up to 1.0 mm thick, which contains a 1:1 ratio by volume of amorphous boron and a solution of an organic binder consisting of phenol-formaldehyde resin, polyvinyl butyral and rosin in acetone. The ratio of the specified organic binder and acetone in the mentioned solution by volume is 1:10. Then the saturating coating is heated in vacuum by an accelerated electron beam.

EFFECT: increased hardness and heat resistance of carbon steel products.
