FIELD: information technologies.

SUBSTANCE: method of imitation modelling of a physical process, for instance, a flow of fluid substances in porous media by making calculations for this process in the medium under conditions of fine mesh and through repeated use of the fine mesh solution in subsequent calculations for coarse mesh. In case of fluid substances flow in near-surface formations, this method may be applied to optimise coarse meshes developed on the basis of geological models, which are produced by means of rescaling for making calculations. Using this method reduces cost of mesh optimisation during imitation modelling of the physical process, which is mathematically described with a diffusion equation.

EFFECT: increased speed of mesh optimisation during rescaling, due to repeated use of flow calculations carried out for geological models.
