SUBSTANCE: invention relates to geophysics and can be used for creation of hydrodynamic model of reservoir. Invention discloses system and method of local grid grinding in reservoir simulation systems. In one aspect, method is aimed at method for simulating geological formation, implemented using computer. Method involves coarse grid application to target geological formation, containing plurality of cells of coarse grid, and identification of target structure located in geological formation. Further, method includes determining zone of fine grid around structure based on period of time for geological formation and geological characteristics of geological formation in local domain adjacent to structure simulation and application of fine grid to coarse grid cells, covered by fine grid zone.

EFFECT: technical result is increase in accuracy of obtained data.
