SUBSTANCE: device (1) for verifying luminescent valuable documents (BN) has a light source (14, 51, 52, 68) for exciting luminescent radiation and a luminescence sensor (12) for detecting luminescent radiation from the valuable document (BN) with spectral resolution. In the disclosed device, the light source (14, 51, 52, 68) creates an illuminated area (35) on the valuable document (BN) conveyed past the luminescence sensor (12) in the direction (T) of conveyance, said illuminated area stretching in the direction (T) of conveyance. The luminescence sensor (12) has several detector units (21, 27) for detecting different characteristics of the luminescent radiation.
EFFECT: high reliability of verification with a compact luminescence sensor.
