FIELD: information technologies.

SUBSTANCE: beacon symbols are periodically transmitted from basic stations in OFDM system. All capacity of the basic station or its larger part is concentrated in these symbols, accordingly, they are easily recognised by mobile stations. Frequencies, at which these symbols are sent, and the time of their transmission, are included into information for a mobile station, for instance, an identifier of the basic station/sector and a preferable carrier of the specified basic station/sector. To avoid a conflict between beacon symbols of various basic stations and sectors, the beacon symbols from various basic stations/sectors are transmitted in different periods of symbols and at various subcarriers.

EFFECT: reduced conflicts of beacon symbols transmitted by various sectors.
