FIELD: metallurgy.

SUBSTANCE: blank-tube is produced from source work piece with lead-in part, with drive part in form of cylinder and with process face positioned in axial orifice on side of cylinder end. A forged piece is formed out of the blank-tube by radial reducing in a radial-reducing machine wherein the blank-tube is fixed in drive centre. Further, the forged piece is subjected to final mechanical treatment where the lead-in part is removed. There is used a hollow drive centre made with a small cylinder in a front part. On the end of the small cylinder there are intermittent circular or spiral teeth. A big cylinder is positioned in the middle part of the centre; it has external grooves without back walls, In a back part of the centre there is a shank end with conic or cylinder external surface. A hollow thrust centre is located in a cavity of the centre; in the back part of the hollow thrust centre there is arranged a device for its fixation in a process face of the blank-tube.

EFFECT: reduced consumption of metal for manufacture of barrels, their upgraded quality and reduced wear of used equipment and process accessories.
