FIELD: technological processes.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metal forming and can be used for production of shafts with threaded or smooth guide part. From initial workpiece by heat treatment and preliminary machining, a pipe workpiece is obtained with front lead-in part and rear driving part in form of a cylinder. Truncated cone is formed end of cylinder. Maximum diameter of truncated cone is equal to or less than diameter of cylinder. Pipe workpiece is placed in support and hollow driver of centers of radial squeezer. Pipe workpiece radial reduction is performed in radial reducing machine to produce forged piece from it. Hollow actuating centre comprises small cylinder with teeth on end in front part, larger cylinder with external grooves without rear walls in middle part and shank in rear part. Sleeve is placed on small cylinder with possibility of axial movement. Between larger cylinder front end and rear end sleeve there is an elastic element. Sleeve extends beyond end of small cylinder and is made with inner conical cavity.

EFFECT: higher quality of shank forging, longer service life of radial squeezer driver and improved manufacturability.
