FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: proposed glass features the following ratio of components in mol. %: 22-25 - Na2O, 25-30 - Nb2O5, the rest making SiO2. Proposed method comprises two-step thermal treatment and polarisation in constant current at increased temperature. Thermal treatment is conducted at 640-645°C for 11-12 h and, then, at 670-675°C for 15-20 min. Now, thermally treated specimen, a 0.9-1.1 mm-thick flat-parallel plate, is subjected to polarisation at 320-330°C in constant electric field directed perpendicular to said plate, at voltage of 0.8-1.5 kV for 10-15 min, and cooled down in the presence of said electric field.
EFFECT: higher quadratic optical susceptibility to allow glass to be used as active material in linear optoelectronic transducers.
