SUBSTANCE: router receives a range of data streams which form a range of services, each containing several sub-streams, only the subset of which is used in the multimedia unit. A set of data reflecting the profile of the multimedia unit is determined. Said set of data is sent to the router. A user service request is received. The requested service is extracted from services received by the router. The router filters unnecessary sub-streams in accordance with the given profile when sending data of one service and the remaining sub-streams are sent to the multimedia unit.

EFFECT: reduced flow of data between a router and a multimedia unit.
