FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: pre- and post-operative spiral computed or magnetic resonant tomography of an involved spine is performed. It is followed by calculating a pre- (Kst1) and post-operative (Kst2) spine canal stenosis coefficient by formula: Kst=1-2d22: (d12+d32), where Kst is the spine canal stenosis coefficient, d1 is a cross sectional diameter of the spine canal of a superjacent vertebra, d2 is a cross sectional diameter of the spine canal in the narrowest spot, d3 is a cross sectional diameter of the spine canal of a subjacent vertebra. A surgical correction coefficient of the spine canal (Kk) is calculated by formula Kk=1-Kst2:Kst1. If the Kk value exceeds 0.4, surgical correction of the spine canal is considered to be satisfactory.

EFFECT: method enables objective assessment of sufficiency and adequacy of surgical correction of the spine canal.
