FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: according to the present method, sulphur is burnt in an air current. Sulphur combustion products - sulphur dioxide - are mixed with the initial acid gas containing hydrogen sulphide. The obtained mixture is brought to temperature 200-260°C and passed through at least one catalytic reactor. The obtained process gas containing sulphur vapour is cooled in order to condense the formed sulphur, part of which is returned for combustion. The process gas from the last catalytic Claus reactor after condensation of sulphur is heated to 190-260°C and then fed into a direct oxidation reactor.
EFFECT: invention prevents loss of sulphur and environmental pollution.
