FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in chemical and oil refining industry. Method of utilising sour gases, containing H2S and NH3, with obtaining sulphur, includes processing H2S-containing sour gases by Claus method with after-purification of Claus tail gases and combustion of NH3-containing sour gas on installation for H2SO4 production. Process is carried out with application of two reaction three-chambered furnaces of cyclone type, one of which is installed on Claus thermal step, and the other - on installation for H2SO4 production. Produced H2SO4 circulates on installation for H2SO4 production, with its excess being burnt in reaction furnace of Claus thermal step, where H2S-containing sour gas is supplied. Waste gases from thermal step are supplied to Claus catalytic step, tail gases from which are supplied for combustion in reaction furnace of installation for H2SO4 production, where NH3-containing sour gas is supplied. Quantity of air, supplied into reaction furnace of Claus thermal step, is determined by air, required for thermal H2SO4 dissociation and H2S oxidation, and regulated, taking into account oxygen, released in thermal dissociation. Heat from combustion of NH3-containing sour gases is used in after-purification of Claus tail gases.

EFFECT: invention makes it possible to reduce installation dimensions, reduce quantity of air, supplied to Claus installation by 6-8% (by O2 balance) and increase general efficiency of H2S-containing gas conversion into sulphur to 99,95%.
