FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used for prediction of development and prevention of diabetic retinopathy (DR) in case of type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM type 2) in Yakuts. Method includes isolation of DNA from lymphocytes of peripheral venous blood, amplification of adiponektin (ADIPOQ) gene specificity being determined by method of polymerase chain reaction of DNA synthesis. If genotype *H/*H of polymorphic version Y111H ADIPOQ is detected, risk of diabetic retinopathy development is predicted.

EFFECT: application of invention makes it difficult to predict and detect DR risk groups among Yakuts in due time.
