FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: what is presented is a method for prediction of a risk of developing diabetic retinopathy accompanying type 2 diabetes mellitus in Yakuts. DNA is recovered from peripheral blood lymphocytes; a lipoprotein lipase (LPL) gene site is amplified by polymerase chain reaction, and if observing genotype *G/*T and allele *T of a polymorphous version Hind III of the LPL gene, a risk of developing diabetic retinopathy is predicted.
EFFECT: method provides detecting a risk group of diabetic retinopathy accompanying type 2 diabetes mellitus in Yakuts for the purpose of specifying a further preventive and therapeutic approach.
