FIELD: packing industry.

SUBSTANCE: device to monitor thickness of a side wall thickness in non-round transparent containers comprises a conveyor to hold a container in stable condition and to rotate the container around the axis. The source of light directs light radiation to the container side wall on the conveyor. An anamorphic lens system that has a lens system axis directs radiation reflected from parts of the inner and outer surfaces in the container side wall, which are substantially parallel to the lens system axis, to a photodetector. An information processor reacts at a detector to determine the side wall thickness as the container rotation angle increases in the form of a function from an internal on the detector between light radiations reflected from the inner and outer surfaces of the container side wall.

EFFECT: development of the method and the device to measure thickness of wall in non-round transparent containers.
