SUBSTANCE: during successive transmission of data units to a communication channel, the body of a data unit of variable length is transmitted first, wherein the body of the first unit has zero length, and the second to be transmitted is the header of the first unit having a fixed length, with a break. The body of the second (current) data unit of variable length reaches the communication channel without a break. Transmission of the body of the second (current) data unit of variable length stops at an arbitrary place. The number of units of transmitted bits is recorded, starting with the zero value in the "boundary" field, the value of the cyclically redundant control code is recorded in the "verification code" in the header of the second (current) unit, and the header of the second (current) data unit is recorded in a memory device for a given period of time.
EFFECT: possibility of correct stoppage of transmission of a packet to a communication channel at an arbitrary moment so as to transmit another packet.
