FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: procedure consists in generation of plasma jet from fumes of fluid working medium. Fumes are evaporated in evaporator (4) of an electric-arc plasmatron. Surface of metals is heated with plasma jet. Working medium is supplied by means of capillary forces from a bin (20) with moisture absorbing filler (23) into the evaporator through insertion (25). Insertion (25) is made axially symmetrical and combined of shaped parts in form of rings of elastic deformed moisture proof porous material. The rings are successively and coaxially arranged inside the plasmatron thus facilitating assembly of the insertion. The evaporator is manufactured as a tubular element with tangential side holes. It is coaxially installed into the central orifice of the insertion. Consumption of working medium and pressure of plasma generating fume are regulated by means of change of moisture penetrability of the insertion by control of its volume and simultaneously porosity with mechanic force.
EFFECT: expanded process functionality and upgraded quality of treatment by heating due to higher controllability over parametres of plasma jet.
