FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to procedure for plasma-arc metal welding and can be used in machine building, construction and also for domestic and household needs. Metal is welded with a constricted arc of indirect action. Plasma jet for this purpose is formed by constriction of arc with a plasma forming medium produced as result of steam generation out of working fluid directly in a plasmatron containing a reservoir for working fluid. There is used working fluid containing water with addition of alcohol and 10 % solution of ammonia. Contents of ammonia in working fluid are 0.3-3.0 wt %, and alcohol - 30-60 wt %.
EFFECT: introduction of water ammonia solution into working fluid increases service life of electrode unit, power and stability of arc, facilitates filing plasmatron with working fluid, reduces dimensions and weight of electrode unit of plasmatron.
