SUBSTANCE: inspection device for inspecting containers has a transportation section or a transporter sprocket for inlet and outlet of containers, an illumination device, an optical measuring unit and a control unit, wherein the illumination device is covered by a transparent hollow housing which can rotate about a centre axle actuated by a motor directly or through appropriate working connections, wherein at least one cleaning device is mounted on the hollow housing. The hollow housing can be a pipe which is permeable for radiation whose wavelength is in the visible, infrared and/or ultraviolet range.
EFFECT: reduced expenses on cleaning the illumination device.
