FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: method enables variation of the configuration of the coverage area of a radio system and formation thereof depending on the set task. For this purpose, time instants for receiving radio signals, transmitted from four radio beacon centres with one transmitting antenna at each centre, are recorded on the object mainly based on the time position of the leading edge of arriving pulses of radio signals. Time instances for receiving arriving radio signals are recorded from time instances selected within given time intervals. Phase centres of antennae lie in a certain manner at the same height. Spatial coordinates are determined from disclosed simple expressions which depend on the average values of repeatedly measured differences between reception times of corresponding radio signals.
EFFECT: high efficiency, simple circuit design of the receiving/transmitting equipment.
