SUBSTANCE: invention describes a method in a wireless communication system for efficient transmission of a report with scheduling information generated in any device of said system. The method comprises a step for adaptive selection (610) of the format of the buffer state report so that, for the given current buffer content it is most efficient to indicate the filling levels of the buffers of the scheduler; and a step for encoding (620) said buffer filling levels.
EFFECT: minimisation of the number of bits needed to encode said information.
