FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: sample has a hemispherical working surface, a hollow cylinder whose diameter is equal to the diameter of the hemisphere, an axial force sensor and a force-measuring device. The hemisphere has an axle. The hollow cylinder is mounted on the axle and interacts through one of its end faces with the end face of the hemisphere. The axial force sensor is placed coaxially with the cylinder and interacts with its other end face. The sample is placed on the plate under analysis, which forms a single magnetic loop with a magnetic conductor, with an adjustable clearance in between. The hollow cylinder and the plate under analysis are connected to a power supply. The axle is connected to a source of pulsed axial load which is in form of an electromagnetic exciting coil. The plate under analysis is mounted on a magnetic-electrically insulating support. A load which is vertical, time-varying and perpendicular to the axis of the traction load of the sample is transferred onto the sample through a rod fitted in a solenoid, a spring and a lever, and there is a spacer between the lever and the cylinder.
EFFECT: high accuracy of determining overall coefficient of friction and components thereof.
