FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: method of determining amitriptyline is based on extraction of its ion-associates with methyl orange using chloroform from an acetonate buffer solution with pH 3 and measuring optical density of chloroform extracts at wavelength 430 nm in a 0.5 cm thick cuvette.
EFFECT: highly sensitive and rapid method of determining amitriptyline in drug formulations.
