SUBSTANCE: method involves accessing one or more records in a file using a combined antivirus/replicative filter. Virus canning functionalities of the combined antivirus/replicative filter are used. A record in a file is checked to see whether it contains a virus. One or more actions are taken based on whether the record in the file contains a virus and the record is marked with one or more virus indicators, which represent information on the virus associated with the record in the file.
