FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely to ophthalmology, and can be used for treatment of keratoconus. For this purpose ablation of epithelial layer of cornea is performed by method of eximerlaser ablation to the depth not more than 2/3 of its thickness. After that, cornea is saturated with 0.1% riboflavin solution by method of its multiple instillations. Then, ultraviolet irradiation of cornea with wavelength 365 nm is carried out for 30 min.
EFFECT: method makes it possible to increase keratoconus treatment efficiency and reduce to minimum risk of postoperative complications due to strictly dosed in depth and area eximerlaser ablation of superficial layers of epithelium with preservation of its germinal layer, which contributes to prevention of injury to Bowman's membrane and corneal stroma and complete, uniform and rapid epithelisation of cornea.
