METHOD FOR TREATMENT OF PROGRESSIVE KERATOCONUS Russian patent published in 2021 - IPC A61F9/07 A61F9/08

Abstract RU 2760482 C1

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely ophthalmology. Mechanical removal of the epithelial layer of the cornea is carried out, the cornea is affected by instillation to saturate with 0.1% riboflavin solution and ultraviolet irradiation with a wavelength of 365 nm for 30 minutes. Previously, before treatment, a point with a minimum thickness of the cornea is determined at the top of the keratoconus, its location relative to the center of the pupil is revealed. This point is taken as the center of excimer laser action, which is carried out to the depth of the epithelial layer of the cornea no more than 2/3 of its thickness before mechanical removal of the remaining 1/3 of the thickness of the epithelial layer of the cornea. Moreover, the depth of removal of the epithelial layer is calculated relative to the size of the epithelial layer of the minimum thickness of the cornea. In this case, the diameter of the excimer laser and mechanical impact zone is determined by the largest radius from the center of the excimer laser impact to the remote point of the base of the keratoconus.

EFFECT: method allows to treat progressive keratoconus, to take into account keratotopographic and pachymetric features of the cornea, to carry out maximum impact on the cornea in the keratoconus area and smaller perifocal impact.
