FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to ophthalmology. For the treatment of keratoconus, position of keratoconus is found relative to the center of the optical zone of the cornea, point de-epithelization is conducted to remove the epithelial layer to full depth thereof to the bowman membrane, along with saturating the cornea with riboflavin solution through multiple installations of 0.1 % solution and ultraviolet irradiation. In this case, de-epithelization within the diameter of the base of keratoconus is compacted with a distance between exposure points ranging from 0.15 to 0.25 mm, and outside this zone, within the limits of the ablation diameter, sparse point de-epithelization is conducted with a distance between the exposure points ranging from 0.5 to 1.0 mm. Method provides the effect on the corneal epithelium exactly in accordance with thickness thereof, taking into account the necessary degree of de-epithelization within the diameter of the base of keratoconus and outside this zone. Compacted location of the ablation points within the diameter of the base of keratoconus provides a greater degree of de-epithelization, facilitating riboflavin access and, consequently, better saturation with stroma of the cornea, which increases the effect of cross-linking. Outside the base of keratoconus in the peripheral zone of the cornea, a lower degree of de-epithelization is required, which provides sparse deposition of ablation points.
EFFECT: dosed de-epithelization contributes to less pain, more rapid rehabilitation of patients.
