FIELD: medicine, ophthalmology.
SUBSTANCE: riboflavin solution is introduced into the cornea, the cornea is irradiated with a beam of ultraviolet light and the excimer laser correction of ametropia is carried out. Namely, the correction is carried out by the method of transepithelial photorefractive keratectomy, while the centering of the optical zone is carried out along the visual axis of the patient, which is determined by the keratotopogram; the diameter of the laser ablation zone is set in the range of 5.5–6.5 mm, and the ablation depth is not more than 50 μm, with a laser pulse repetition rate of 1,050 Hz. Irradiation of the cornea with a beam of UV light is carried out with an intensity of 9 mW/cm2 and a power of 5.4 mJ/cm2 for 10 minutes with a preliminary thirty-minute impregnation of the cornea with a 0.1% solution of riboflavin.
EFFECT: method allows to minimize the risk of developing postoperative secondary keratectasia, maintaining the biomechanical stability of the cornea, providing postoperative corneal re-epithelialization and reducing pain during the rehabilitation period.
