FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to isothermal reactor for exothermal or endothermic heterogeneous reactions. Proposed reactor comprises cylindrical outer housing with lengthwise axis, catalyst layer arranged there inside and provided with opposed perforated sidewalls to feed gas flow of chemicals in and discharge gas flow of reaction products therefrom, and heat exchanger unit immersed in catalyst layer and intended for forcing heat carrier there through. Catalyst layer is confined by opposed perforated sidewalls on its edges. Note here that first and second gaps are formed between said housing and sidewalls. Aforesaid heat exchanger unit comprises a set of heat exchangers arranged in parallel with each other and to direction wherein catalyst layer is crossed by gas flow of chemicals.
EFFECT: simple design, efficient operation.
