FIELD: transportation.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to railway vehicles, particularly to method of locomotive failure detection. Method of failure detection includes preliminary input of failure indicator arrays and respective sectors of electrical, pneumatic circuits, locomotive units and periodic visual inspection of equipment state to system memory. The system is a microprocessor control system of locomotive. Visual inspection of equipment state is implemented by process information monitoring at indication module of microprocessor control system. Data indication module of control system is located at console in locomotive cabin. Depending on failure circumstances and parameters, locomotive driver decides on the choice of elimination method for failure or failure consequences. In case of a failure, data indication module displays frames depicting layout sectors of failing circuits and possible failure causes.
