METHOD OF SELECTING LINEARLY POLARISED SEISMIC WAVES Russian patent published in 2011 - IPC G01V1/00

Abstract RU 2436126 C2

FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: in order to select longitudinal and transverse waves, the modulus of the vector of output electrical signals of a three-component seismometre are transformed by a function characterised by high selectivity to the spatial position of the vector of these signals. The three-component seismometer sensors used are accelerometres. By giving angular coordinates of projections of the electrical signal vector on a Cartesian coordinate system plane or a radial plane, predetermined by scanning the signal vector, for selecting seismic waves, seismic waves with defined vector orientation in space are picked up and seismic waves with signal vector orientation different from said orientation are suppressed. In the absence of superposition of seismic waves, the selection result is presented in form of the modulus of the electrical signal vector corresponding to the given orientation of the vector of the longitudinal or transverse wave. With interference of seismic waves, the result for selecting the longitudinal or transverse wave is presented in form of part of the modulus of the electrical signal vector corresponding to the time interval free from superposition of waves. Selection of vector orientation angles for selecting seismic waves is carried out after scanning the vector of output electric signals of the three-component seismometre. That selection is performed by an interpreter by analysing results of scanning vectors of seismic waves or by programming, based on the model of propagation of seismic waves from any source in a multilayer medium.

EFFECT: picking up the modulus of an electric signal with given orientation of its vector in space, which corresponds to a defined type of seismic waves and suppression of signals corresponding to seismic waves, the signal vector orientation of which differs from the given orientation.
