FIELD: technological processes.

SUBSTANCE: Archimedean screw (1) is designed for use in a compactor for compaction of mixtures that contain liquid. The screw rotates inside an enclosure structure in the form of a sieve and comprises a shaft (2), with which a spiral (3) and several sections (4a, 4b, 4c, 4d…4n) are connected. One of sections (4b), arranged along with the material flow directly upstream the last section (4a), is made fully of the metal, and the other section (4d) is made of plastic. One of the first sections (4d), arranged in the beginning of the screw, has a spiral section made of softer plastic compared to the plastic, from which spiral sections are made of other plastic sections, or having flexible bristle (6), arranged on its surface, which is most distant from the centre. During screw rotation the soft spiral or bristle enter in contact with the inner wall of the enclosing structure.

EFFECT: reduced wear of the sieve with simultaneous provision of proper liquid wringing.
