METHOD OF BANK STRENGTHENING AGAINST DESTRUCTIVE ACTION OF SEA ANIMALS Russian patent published in 2011 - IPC E02B3/12 

FIELD: construction.

SUBSTANCE: method of bank strengthening against destructive action of sea animals involves arrangement of branches of plants near the bank. At that, freshly-cut branches of willow (1) and stems of reed (2) are laid layer by layer on water surface in front of bank (4). Plants (11) strengthening the slope and bank edge and the slope itself grow on the bank. Willow branches and reed stems are laid along bank line (3) with partial contact of some branches with bottom of water reservoir (7) for their further rooting. Into free space between branches there installed are additional protective floating elements (5); the latter are made in the form of hollow, mainly bottle-shaped vessels open on one side for water access. Laying of branches of woody plants at the bank line is performed with width of 3…5 metres and length that by 10…15 metres exceeds the length of the bank being strengthened to each side. Rooting and formation of root system from latent buds of bark of branches is performed both in water, at the water reservoir bottom, and in the aquatic volume that partially filled the additional protective elements. At that, on additional protective elements there created are favourable conditions as to temperature and aeration, which contribute to intense growth of root system.

EFFECT: increasing duration of bank protection against sea animals.
