FIELD: engines and pumps.
SUBSTANCE: in the described method the adsorbing substance of adsorber is saturated with gaseous hydrocarbons (GH), and after the saturation process is completed, which is characterised by recording of two GH grams at adsorber output, which are not absorbed by adsorber, their weight (B2.0) is determined, transport vehicle is started (namely on chassis dynamometers) according to driving cycles; after that, loss of adsorber weight (BB) is determined as a result of desorption; then, total amount of GH is determined at adsorption (Bshed) per cycles of transport vehicle exposure in tight chamber having the possibility of such recording. Before starting the transport vehicle there additionally recorded is the amount of gaseous hydrocarbons (B0.1) absorbed with adsorber of gaseous hydrocarbons at the moment of output of non-absorbed gaseous hydrocarbons from adsorber in quantity of 0.1 gram; after that, margin as to absorbing capacity (C) is determined by the formula: C=B0.1-(B2.0-BB+Bshed) gr; at that, optimum absorbing capacity of adsorber (Bopt) is determined by formula Bopt=B0.1+(K-C) gr, where "K" - degradation factor of adsorber absorbing capacity, the value of which is chosen from the range of (5…12).
EFFECT: use of the invention will allow optimising the adsorber structure as per mass and dimensions parameters using minimum quantity of adsorbing substance.
